FROM DAVID H. BARBER, P.E.
PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR

Dear Friends:

Welcome to the Public Works website of the City of Peoria.  My staff and I invite you to explore our site which contains useful information regarding the services provided and the programs offered by our Department for the residents of Peoria, Illinois.

Our role is to help provide, operate and maintain the infrastructure to support our growing community, whether it is sidewalks, drainage or new roads.  As members of this community, we all play a role in how that infrastructure is used and how well it works.  Therefore, we encourage you to learn more about Public Works.

My staff and I strive to manage, maintain and enhance the City's public components through cost-effective, customer-oriented service delivery.  These components include street sweeping and other maintenance measures including snow removal, traffic control systems, city buildings and grounds, sidewalks, fleet services, storm sewers and detention basins, CSO compliance and city parking lots, to name a few.  Public Works also administers contracted trash, yardwaste, recyclable material collection and partners with Peoria County in overseeing the operation and maintenance of the Peoria City/County Landfill in Edwards, Illinois.

I assure you the entire Public Works Department is committed to providing you the highest level of customer service possible while adhering to City Council's mission and values.  Our web page is just one of many ways in which we attempt to communicate with you in order to achieve that objective.  We welcome your feedback through our Contact Public Works page and look forward to continuing to serve you and the Peoria community.
